Meet Rotterdam’s new Health&Tech hubs

Erasmus MC Incubator
Currently located in the Rotterdam Science Tower and at the Erasmus MC Campus, the Erasmus MC Incubator provides early-stage companies in Life Sciences & Health access to lab and office facilities and entrepreneurial support. A brand-new incubator building on the campus is under development, scheduled to open early 2027, bringing more startups even closer to top clinical researchers and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Robert Al, Director of Erasmus MC TTO: “Erasmus MC is all in when it comes to entrepreneurship on campus. With the first stage of development of the Erasmus MC Campus getting underway, it is crucial to offer a good landing zone for new startup companies. The Erasmus MC Incubator is the ideal place for that, supported by the Technology Transfer Office.”

CIC Rotterdam
Located in the iconic Groot Handelsgebouw, directly across Rotterdam Central Station, CIC Rotterdam offers vibrant and flexible workspaces, dedicated offices and event space in a community-driven environment. The location is home to a wide range of startups and scale-ups, including a growing number of Health&Tech innovators. CIC is a global leader in building and operating innovation campuses for startups and innovative businesses, and offers its members access to all campuses in the US, Europe and Asia.

Joyce Kornet-Vreugdenhil, General Manager at CIC Rotterdam: “Our goal is to build a strong Health Tech Hub in Rotterdam. By joining forces with Rotterdam Square, we aim to connect our local community to CIC’s global innovation ecosystem and unlock new opportunities for breakthrough health solutions with global impact — all in line with our mission of fixing the world through innovation.”

Rotterdam Science Tower
This landmark building at the Marconiplein provides high-quality lab and office spaces tailored to start-ups, scale-ups, and established organizations in the Life Sciences & Health companies sector. Managed by Kadans Science Partner, Rotterdam Science Tower fosters collaboration between businesses, knowledge and research institutions, with close proximity to Erasmus MC and other academic partners. Tenants of Rotterdam Science Tower benefit from direct access to the Kadans community, a dynamic and growing network of innovators and researchers active on a local, national, and international scale.

Teun Lebbink, Commercial Manager at Kadans Science Partner: “Rotterdam Science Tower is more than a business centre. It’s a dynamic ecosystem designed to help companies and innovations thrive – especially in fields like Life Sciences & Health. Here, ideas become reality; powered by the belief that collaboration fuels innovation.”

Little C
Located directly opposite Erasmus MC, Little C is a creative, urban campus with modern office spaces. Little C is an area with award-winning architecture, lots of greenery and a lively atmosphere, with various catering establishments and numerous other facilities. A future pedestrian bridge will connect Little C directly to Erasmus MC, making it an ideal location for Health&Tech companies that want to be near one of Europe’s leading university medical centers.

Marianne Davidson, Deputy Director Project Development J.P. van Eesteren: “On the formerly desolate site along the Coolhaven, J.P. van Eesteren and ERA Contour developed a vibrant part of the city: Little C, right opposite Erasmus MC. In the rugged buildings here, Little C Offices offers flexible workspaces, meeting areas, rentable floors, and smart facilities. This way we stimulate daily cross-pollination and accelerate innovations in the Life Science & Health ecosystem.”

Strengthening Rotterdam’s Life Sciences & Health ecosystem

With this partnership, Rotterdam Square aims to make it easier for national and international Health&Tech companies to establish themselves in Rotterdam and connect with research, industry, education, and talent from the region. A visible network of hubs strengthens the city’s positioning as a frontrunner in the sector, accelerating the growth of innovative companies and healthcare solutions that benefit society. “Rotterdam has all the ingredients to become the leading Health&Tech city of the Netherlands,” says Ellen Smit, Managing Director of Rotterdam Square. “By collaborating with key locations across the city, we are building a connected and supportive environment where technical innovation in healthcare can flourish.”
