Sibyl launches app supporting women’s mental health after pregnancy loss

Sibyl has announced the launch of their app, a digital companion and extended care layer for mental health during the reproductive journey, starting with pregnancy loss.

One in three women experience PTSD after a loss. One in six are still struggling with their mental health nine months later. The effects don’t stay contained. They carry into subsequent pregnancies and into the postpartum experience. Mental health issues compound with recurrent loss. And yet there is no widespread, scalable, systemic support offered to women during this time.

Founded by Rotterdam-based entrepreneur Melissa Ablett-Jordaan, who lived through three pregnancy losses, Sibyl was created to provide the kind of support she wished had been available. The platform serves as a digital companion and extended care layer for mental health during the reproductive journey, helping women process and recover emotionally after loss through personalised, clinically grounded support.

To ensure its clinical foundation, Sibyl has been developed with the guidance of an expert advisory board, including Dr. Heather Smith, an OB-GYN based in the United States, Dr. Shai Mahesh, a gynaecologist based in the Netherlands, and Dr. Jeanette Mayse, a psychologist specialising in reproductive trauma based in the United States.

Sibyl is currently participating in active pilots with MC Wetering, a gynaecology clinic in the Netherlands, and Elle Midwives in Rotterdam, exploring how digital mental health support can complement existing healthcare pathways during and after pregnancy loss.

By addressing an often overlooked aspect of reproductive healthcare, Sibyl aims to make personalised mental health support more accessible for women throughout their reproductive journey.

We congratulate Melissa Ablett-Jordaan on this important milestone and look forward to following Sibyl’s journey as it continues to expand access to mental health support after pregnancy loss.

Sibyl is now available for download in the App Store.
