TRUST-AI project receives TKI ICT funding for reliable AI platform for paramedical care
A new development within the Rotterdam Life Sciences & Health ecosystem: the TRUST-AI project has been awarded funding from TKI ICT to develop the next generation of the BioCheck platform, a reliable, secure, and responsible AI platform for paramedical care.
Together with Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and Erasmus MC, BioCheck is preparing a research and development programme to further develop the BioCheck platform into a reliable, secure, and responsible AI platform for paramedical care. The project aims to safely combine and interpret multimodal healthcare data, creating meaningful insights that support personalised care and help people better understand their health, resilience and recovery potential.
As healthcare data continues to grow through sensors, measurements and questionnaires, the challenge lies in translating this information into reliable and meaningful insights. TRUST-AI addresses this by focusing on explainable AI, transparency, privacy, cybersecurity and the safe integration of healthcare data, AI and healthcare systems.
Within the project, the partners will work on:
- Further development of the BioCheck platform with AI functionalities
- Secure and interoperable exchange of healthcare data
- Explainable AI and bias monitoring
- Privacy-enhancing technologies and federated learning
- Validation within the prehabilitation pathway for cardiac surgery patients at Erasmus MC
- Knowledge sharing with healthcare professionals, education and healthcare networks
A key part of the project is the validation within Erasmus MC’s prehabilitation programme for patients undergoing cardiac surgery. The research will explore how AI-supported insights can contribute to a better understanding of physical capacity, recovery patterns and more personalised treatment pathways.
The project contributes to the future of healthcare by exploring how reliable and explainable AI can support healthcare professionals and enable more integrated, personalised patient journeys.
