Muziek als medicijn

Music and art are inseparably connected to our daily lives. Hospitals host numerous cultural initiatives that aim to reduce anxiety, pain, or stress. However, the lack of structured programs and sustainable funding often prevents these interventions from becoming a permanent part of healthcare. As with any new treatment, scientific evidence is essential before implementation. The same applies to music, which is precisely the focus of the research group Muziek als Medicijn (MaM).

During the presentation, researchers Jetske Stoop and Michel Koopmans will highlight their ongoing work on the effects and integration of music interventions in healthcare. They will share new findings and inspiring case studies that demonstrate the potential of music to make a meaningful impact in patient care.

Sylencio

Sylencio has developed an innovative method designed to achieve maximum mental relaxation in the shortest possible time (up to 30 minutes). The method consists of a unique combination of sound, light, aroma, and silence therapy. For an optimal therapeutic experience, Sylencio has created the Sylencio Pod.

The added value of Sylencio has also caught the attention of Erasmus MC. This renowned hospital has invited Sylencio to participate in its research project ‘Muziek als Medicijn’ (Music as Medicine)”. The purpose of the partaking in this study is to examine whether the Sylencio method, in addition to reducing stress, can also provide added benefits in the areas of pain management or other physiological aspects.

Sylencio aligns seamlessly with a growing movement in which mental health and well-being are no longer seen as secondary, but as a core value in our society. Hence the Sylencio motto: inner peace, outer power’
