On Thursday, September 10, Rotterdam Square, in collaboration with Panton, is organizing an inspiring Knowledge Session about MedTech; Technology Push vs. Clinical Needs.

The central part of the program will be a panel discussion, featuring speakers from different perspectives within the MedTech sector. Together, they will explore the challenges we face, bringing innovations in healthcare to reality. How can technological innovation be driven by real clinical needs? What role plays fundamental research, and what influence do investors have.

The panelists will be sharing their experiences, and insights from industry, healthcare, research, and investment. You can find an introduction of the panelists below.

Guus Hak | Director and Co-Founder | Neollie
As a co-founder of the MedTech startup Neollie, Guus is dedicated to developing robotic automation solutions for healthcare environments. With a background in Electrical Engineering from TU Delft, he leads the development of an automated system for neonatal feed preparation. He is passionate about bridging the gap between technology and healthcare.

Jan-Carel Diehl | Medical Delta Professor in Design for Inclusive Sustainable Healthcare | Delft University of Technology and Erasmus Medical Center
Jan Carel Diehl has over 30 years of experience in Design for Sustainability across academic and industrial contexts. His work focuses on circular and sustainable healthcare, environmental assessment, and circular interventions. He has published 250+ academic articles, supervised 300+ MSc students and 9 PhDs, and received multiple Design for Sustainability awards.

Koen van Breugel | Investment Director | Coronet Ventures
Koen leads the investment activities of Coronet Ventures Netherlands, a newly established venture capital fund, based in the Netherlands. The fund was launched by Cedars-Sinai, one of the leading health systems in the U.S., to support healthcare innovation with global impact.

John Vlot | Surgeon-Scientist | Erasmus MC
Working now for 20 years as a surgeon and medical researcher, John has combined his clinical expertise with translational research to develop a business around improving keyhole surgeries. He has used his experiences to teach about the value of Intellectual Property and succesful valorisation of academic knowledge. He constantly tries to promote an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset to all people in the medical domain.
