AR and VR in healthcare discussed at Rotterdam Square Breakfast
On November 30, Rotterdam Square hosted their fifth event at de Doelen in partnership with Immersive Tech Week 2023, all about AR and VR in healthcare.
We were joined by prof.dr. Yvonne van Everdingen, drs. Jackie Poos and Jeffrey Lemmers, who discussed the research side of AR and VR in healthcare. They shared the importance and benefits of the implementation of AR and VR, and what research is going on in Erasmus MC – also working closely together with Convergence, a collaboration between the TU Delft, Erasmus MC and Erasmus University Rotterdam. Jackie Poos zoomed in on the use of VR for dementia diagnosis, and Jeffrey Lemmers discussed DUTCH, Digital United Training Concepts for Healthcare, that propogates a transformation in training and lifelong learning of healthcare professionals by developing and implementing XR digital and simulated learning resources.
After the presentation, Roderick van Beek from SyncVR Medical and Mike de Boer from MedicalVR joined the stage for an interview moderated by Sharon Mullen. They shared their experiences working in the VR industry in healthcare and challenges they face. Our final guest speaker was drs. Greet Vink, director of the Erasmus MC Smart Health Tech Center (SHTC), sharing the process from Health&Tech research to development, and how the SHTC supports that process.
There is a lot going on in the Health&Tech network in Rotterdam, and we’re proud to be a part of it and to be able to showcase it to the network!
