Rotterdam Square hosts interactive session on Preventative Healthcare

At Rotterdam Square, we believe in the power of collaboration to drive meaningful change in healthcare. On February 13, 2025, we hosted an interactive session ‘Innovating Health Through Preventative Care’ at Erasmus MC, bringing together research, industry and government to discuss the urgent need for prevention strategies and how we can work together to make a lasting impact.

Some of the key takeways of the event:

  • Annelies Nijhuis from gemeente Rotterdam highlighted Rotterdam’s commitment to ensuring a healthier population and reducing health inequalities. The Gezonder010 health policy focuses on strengthening the foundation for prevention through partnerships with organizations like CEPHIR. The city is open to joining forces and collaborating on e.g. prevention programs and data initiatives.
  • Arjen Huizinga from MiGuide showcased their 24-month digital lifestyle program to help people live healthier lives, emphasizing that lifestyle changes – not medication – are the solution. Their approach integrates real-time reporting into GP systems, enhancing patient engagement and the long-term success of participants by investing in patient journeys and maximizing impact.
  • Kirsten Berk and Raoul Oostenbrink from U-diet discussed the importance of achieving real behavioral change and the challenge of motivation in dietary interventions. Incorporating interactive components with healthcare providers in eHealth programs has shown to significantly improve their effectiveness.

The event underscored Rotterdam’s dedication to co-creation and collaboration in making healthcare more innovative, effective, and accessible. Attendees expressed gratitude to the guest speakers for their valuable insights and actively participated in the discussions, making the session highly engaging and informative. Let’s keep collaborating to strengthen preventative healthcare and drive real impact!
