Could you first introduce yourself?

My name is Varsha Thakoersing, a scientist who transitioned into entrepreneurship. My career is fueled by my childhood aspiration to make a significant impact in healthcare, which guided me towards an academic and professional path in bio-pharmaceutical sciences. I hold a Ph.D. in skin biology and an M.Sc. in Biopharmaceutical Sciences from Leiden University. My career has spanned across academia, fast-moving consumer goods, and the pharmaceutical industry, offering me a broad experience from pre-clinical to clinical development. Today, I am the CEO and co-founder of IMcoMET, a role that blends my expertise in science and business, fulfilling my career ambitions and personal dreams.

What does your company do?

IMcoMET is at the forefront of revolutionizing personalized treatment in dermatological care. Our mission revolves around significantly enhancing patient health outcomes and reducing the economic burden of healthcare. We focus particularly on prevalent conditions like atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, affecting over 90 million individuals in Europe and the US. The crux of our approach is addressing the unique challenges each patient faces due to the individual nature of their immune system imbalances. Traditional treatments often fail to account for this variability, leading to ineffective treatments. Our response to this challenge is our pioneering M-Duo Technology®, a groundbreaking method that painlessly extracts a wide range of biomarkers from interstitial fluid directly from skin lesions. This enables healthcare professionals to gain profound insights into each patient’s unique condition, paving the way for tailored and more effective treatment strategies.

What do you look for within the Life Sciences & Health network?
