A sunny summer drinks event for Rotterdam Square

On Thursday, June 20, Rotterdam Square hosted their third Science Café – this time a special edition as the annual summer drinks event. We welcomed our network to Dudok aan de Maas in the heart of Rotterdam, giving the network the opportunity to connect with each other while enjoying a stunning and sunny view of the city skyline and celebrating the start of summer.

At the event we were joined by Maheep Gupta and Marvin Kunz from Daksha AI. Daksha AI is a start-up in the Rotterdam network, focusing on AI solutions for businesses. They help organizations become lean and improve productivity using AI, Process Automation, and technologies tailored to the business case. It was very interesting to hear how Daksha AI has successfully helped many companies in Life Sciences & Health by using AI to take care of ‘trivial tasks’.

Managing director Ellen Smit presented the first results from the survey that was recently distributed in our network. After a first full year of operation, we wanted to evaluate our success by inviting our partners to share their experiences, ideas and suggestions regarding Rotterdam Square. This survey, in which all invitees could participate anonymously, aims to contribute to increased success of Rotterdam Square and the Rotterdam ecosystem, and helped us gain valuable insights. The survey was executed by De Barn, and its full report will soon be available on our website.

Lastly, Carola Immerzeel-Goosens, manager of the Erasmus MC Incubator, and Pedro Barbosa Tinnemans, Business Development Manager at Erasmus MC TTO, joined us to present the plans of the new Incubator and the first insights into the Validation Program the TTO will be offering to start-ups in the network, focusing on MedTech. The presentation was followed by a surprise from Rotterdam Square to Carola, who has recently celebrated her 25th anniversary of working at Erasmus MC!
