Rotterdam Square Event: Bridging the Gap – From Innovation to Implementation in MedTech

That is why we are excited to invite you to the upcoming Rotterdam Square Event on Thursday, May 15, 2025, all about the theme: Bridging the Gap – From Innovation to Implementation in MedTech. Join us for an inspiring afternoon where key players in the MedTech ecosystem come together to explore MedTech – one of our focus areas in Rotterdam – and how we can bridge the gap between groundbreaking innovation and successful implementation in healthcare.

We are excited to share our confirmed guest speakers are Lonneke Baas (Team Lead LSH, Horticulture & Food) and Yaella Essed (Business Developer LSH) from InnovationQuarter, a key player in driving innovation in the Netherlands. By supporting innovative startups and facilitating collaboration between entrepreneurs, investors, and knowledge institutes, InnovationQuarter plays a vital role in bringing groundbreaking MedTech innovations to market and accelerating commercialization.

We will also be joined by Prof. Dr. Gijs van Soest (Erasmus MC) and Dr. Ir. Marcel Tichem (TU Delft), who will share more about the program MIMIC. The innovation process of medical devices, especially invasive and higher-risk technologies (MDR Class IIb and III) is complex, often with limited success-rate and long time-to-clinic. In their presentation, Van Soest and Tichem will analyse common challenges and pitfalls, using a case study and an inventory performed in the course of the Medical Delta program MIMIC: ‘Medical Instruments Manufacturing: from Idea to Clinic’. They will share ideas currently being shaped within the MIMIC program aimed at improving the innovation process for these devices.

Lastly, we are pleased to welcome Martijn Chatrou, Program Director at Microsure. Microsure is a Dutch medical technology company, specialized in developing robotic systems to enhance precision and efficiency in microsurgical procedures.
