Rotterdam Square Breakfast: Implementing VR Solutions in Healthcare

Rotterdam Square Breakfast: Implementing VR Solutions in Healthcare

On Wednesday, December 4, Rotterdam Square will host a breakfast event in collaboration with Immersive Tech Week 2024. Just like last year, inspiring guest speakers will join us in De Doelen in Rotterdam to discuss the exciting opportunities of implementing virtual reality (VR) in healthcare.

Our first guest speaker is Bram Onneweer, Coordinator Living Labs/Policy Advisor Innovation at Rijndam and Linking Pin between Erasmus MC. Rijndam and TU Delft, advising on technological developments within rehabilitation medicine. Onneweer will share insights into current and future projects of Rijndam, the direction he believes we should be heading with VR in rehabilitation, and the challenges he faces with implementing VR in healthcare.

We will also be joined by Henrik Hellman, director of EldersVR. EldersVR is a company that leverages VR technology to enhance the well-being of less mobile elderly individuals. Their approach is rooted in the belief that a happy life requires less care, and they aim to contribute to a better quality of life for the elderly through VR experiences. EldersVR collaborates with care organizations to integrate their VR solutions into daily care routines, aiming to improve the quality of care and to relieve the burden on caregivers.

Our third speaker is Mary Jane Roy, Generation diversity Stress and Resilience & Consultant, Trainer, Facilitator and Coach at IBIAS VR. IBIAS VR specializes in using VR technology to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training in the workplace by fostering empathy and understanding within organizations in different industries. Their programs aim to create safer and more inclusive work environments through immersive experiences and scientifically-backed methods. Mary Jane Roy will share insights in their products and services, and the importance of inclusivity in a workplace. Discover how these principles can be applied to create more empathetic and inclusive environments in healthcare.

And lastly, we will be joined by Gijs den Butter, Chief Product Officer and co-founder of SenseGlove. SenseGlove is a company that creates wearable haptic gloves for VR, AR, and telerobotics, providing realistic touch sensations. Their products, such as the SenseGlove Nova and Nova 2, provide users with realistic touch sensations by simulating the size, stiffness, and resistance of virtual objects. They are used in various industries, including the healthcare sector, for applications like VR training, research, and prototyping.
