Rotterdam Square Event: MedTech from Research to Market

On Thursday, March 7, 2024, Rotterdam Square will host an event about one of our focus areas: MedTech. Our guest speakers will take you along in the route from MedTech research to bringing a device to the market – and all the steps and challenges in between.

We will be joined by guest speaker Onno Helder, trained as a pediatric intensive care nurse, and now co-founder of Create4Care, an inspiring makerspace located inside Erasmus MC. At Create4Care, healthcare workers, industrial product developers, UX designers and medical device developers work together on innovations that are highly needed in daily practice, specifically for nurses – his background. He will share more about Create4Care, his personal journey starting the initiative, and innovations that came from it.

Our second speaker is Remi Veenman, Director Medical at Spark design & innovation. Spark design & innovation is a design and innovation services company based in Rotterdam, with over 30 years of experience in strategic innovation, conceptual design and mechanical engineering –  end-to-end product development. Remi will share more about Spark design & innovation, their work method and how they are involved in hightech MedTech prototyping and bringing a product to life, supported by a few cases.

And lastly, Paul van den Biggelaar, CEO and co-founder of Sensius, will join us to discuss this topic from an industry point of view. Sensius is a starting company in MedTech, a spin-off from Erasmus MC and located in the Erasmus MC Incubator, that improves the perspective for cancer patients by using thermotherapy. Paul van den Biggelaar will be sharing more about Sensius, his experiences and challenges being an entrepreneur in MedTech, and what steps need to be taken to bring a medical device to the market.
