The Rotterdam Eye Hospital has started planning for the construction of a new hospital location on the Erasmus MC grounds. This location, where several innovative (care) organizations will settle in the coming years, fits well with the specialized character of the hospital.
In the coming years, the Rotterdam Eye Hospital will focus even more strongly on innovative third and fourth-line care and research. This ambition has led them to choose a new location on the Erasmus MC grounds.
Yvonne Koppelman, president of the Rotterdam Eye Hospital, is looking forward to the exploration of the cooperation: ‘Both the Rotterdam Eye Hospital and Erasmus MC are important players in the Rotterdam care. A new location for The Eye Hospital Rotterdam on the Erasmus MC grounds will enable us to strengthen the mutual cooperation with the Erasmus MC and other organizations that are located there and thus further develop ophthalmic care in the Netherlands in the interest of the patient.’
Erasmus MC is enthusiastic about the move: ‘We are delighted that a specialist hospital like Het Oogziekenhuis Rotterdam, with a good national and international reputation, has chosen a new location at Erasmus MC,’ says Joke Boonstra, member of the Executive Board of Erasmus MC. The collaboration with Het Oogziekenhuis also fits in perfectly with our strategy of being a technical UMC; ophthalmology is a good example of a profession where technology and medicine meet.
